Adrienne Michelle transforms real life experiences into unforgettable stories that honor heritage, reveal humanity, and preserve the legacies that time cannot erase.
What's Your Story?
It deserves to be told!

Adrienne Michelle writes "Adult Children" stories that explore how childhood experiences shape who we become as adults. They sit at the intersection of memoir, family narrative, and reflection. These stories are less about growing up and more about looking back, understanding parents, unpacking inherited patterns, and making peace with the past.

THE ONE SON
A Testimony of Love, Lies, & Legacy
Book Summary
The One Son is told by Adrienne Michelle as she lived it, but this story could have many versions depending on who is telling it. Her mother, father, brothers, sister, cousins, aunts, and grandmother all lived it too, each with their own truth and memory of what happened.
It is a memoir about her father, Barry, shaped by his mother’s power, and her mother, Sandra, who turned her pain into strength.
Barry grows up as his mother Dorothy’s prize possession, learning early that love can wound as deeply as it protects. Her control becomes his blueprint, guiding how he loves, betrays, and hurts the people closest to him.
When Barry’s decisions shatter his marriage to Sandra, the damage ripples through the entire family. From the military posts that promised escape to the exits on the Garden State Parkway where truth always finds its way home, his choices leave a mark that time cannot erase.
It is also about growing up an Army brat, raised by a mother with her own unique style, and finding stability in motion. With New Jersey as home base, a neighborhood on the Jersey Shore with streets named after fruits became the center of family, faith, and community. From that place, Adrienne learned how loyalty, laughter, and loss could coexist under one roof.
Told with precision and honesty, The One Son reveals how the bond between a mother and son can both forge and fracture a family. It is a story about inheritance, the patterns we carry, the pain we pass on, and the rare courage it takes to stop the cycle.

READING REFLECTIONS

“I connected with the book right away because I was raised in a military family too. It felt like someone finally understood exactly how I felt. The way the author described each moment, the mood, the atmosphere, and the emotion made every scene come alive. By the end, I couldn’t help but think how true it is that you really can’t pick your family.”
